HOW TO MAKE BUBBLES | BUBBLE RECIPES & BUBBLE TRICKS

How To Make Bubbles | Bubble Recipes & Bubble Tricks image

You can blow bubbles with any mixture of soap and water, but add a 'secret' ingredient and you'll get bigger and stronger bubbles!

Total Time 10 minutes

Prep Time 10 minutes

Cook Time 10 minutes

Number Of Ingredients 5

Liquid dish soap (Joy or Dawn brands work best. Try to find one that doesn’t say ‘Ultra’)
Distilled water (tap water is okay, but distilled water makes the best bubbles)
Clean container with lid
Glycerin or light corn syrup
Bubble wand or straw

Steps:

  • Measure 6 cups of water into one container, then pour 1 cup of dish soap into the water and slowly stir it until the soap is mixed in. Try not to let foam or bubbles form while you stir.
  • Measure 1 tablespoon of glycerin or 1/4 cup of corn syrup and add it to the container. Stir the solution until it is mixed together.
  • You can use the solution right away, but to make even better bubbles, put the lid on the container and let your super bubble solution sit overnight. (Note: If you used “Ultra” dish soap, double the amount of glycerin or corn syrup.)
  • Dip a bubble wand or straw into the mixture, slowly pull it out, wait a few seconds, and then blow. How big of a bubble can you make? How many bubbles can you make in one breath?

AMERICAN STYLE PANCAKE RECIPE | JAMIE OLIVER PANCAKE RECIPES

American style pancake recipe | Jamie Oliver pancake recipes image

Pile up these American pancakes with fruit, a dollop of crème fraîche, bacon, syrup… all sorts.

Total Time 20 minutes

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 4

3 large free-range eggs
115 g plain flour
1 heaped teaspoon baking powder
140 ml milk

Steps:

    1. First separate the eggs, putting the whites into one bowl and the yolks into another.
    2. Add the flour, baking powder and milk to the yolks and mix to a smooth thick batter.
    3. Whisk the whites with 1 pinch of sea salt until they form stiff peaks, then fold into the batter – it is now ready to use.
    4. Heat a non-stick pan over a medium heat, pour some of the batter into the pan and cook for a couple of minutes, or until it starts to look golden and firm.
    5. At this point sprinkle your chosen flavouring (see below) onto the uncooked side before loosening with a spatula and flipping the pancake over. Continue frying until both sides are golden.
    6. You can make these pancakes large or small, depending on what you prefer. Serve them with a drizzle of maple syrup, or even with some butter or crème fraîche. If you choose to sprinkle with a flavouring, try one of these... fresh corn from the cob, crispy bacon or pancetta, blueberries, banana, stewed apple, grated chocolate – anything else you can imagine...

    1. Gently warm the milk. In a bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in the warm milk and 100ml of tepid water. Leave in a warm place for 15 minutes, or until frothy.
    2. Sift the flour, bicarbonate of soda and 1 teaspoon of fine sea salt into a large bowl. Make a well in the centre and pour in the yeast mixture.
    3. Whisk from the centre outwards until the consistency of double cream – this will take a few minutes. Add a splash more water, if needed.
    4. Cover with a damp tea towel and set aside for 45 minutes or until little bubbles form on the surface.
    5. For the butter, pour the cream into a freestanding mixer. Whisk on high for 5 to 10 minutes, or until the cream splits into solids and liquid.
    6. Drain through a sieve, discard the liquid, then rinse the solids thoroughly with cold water. Place in muslin and squeeze out any excess liquid. Mix ½ a teaspoon of sea salt through and wrap in greaseproof paper.
    7. Grease four 10cm egg rings with vegetable oil. Wipe a little oil around a large frying pan or iron skillet and place over a medium-high heat.
    8. Arrange the rings in the frying pan and, once hot, spoon 4 tablespoons of the batter into each ring. Cook for 5 minutes, or until little bubbles appear on the surface.
    9. Once the bubbles have burst, leaving little holes, use tongs to carefully lift off the rings and flip over the crumpets, then cook for 1 minute on the other side. Re-grease and reheat the rings and pan before cooking the next batch.
    10. Serve the crumpets warm, with a slather of butter. If making them in advance, just toast lightly on both sides when you come to serve them.

IHOP COUNTRY OMELETTE COPYCAT RECIPE | TOP SECRET RECIPES
Sure, IHOP is famous for pancakes, but the joint makes a pretty killer omelette when put to the task. What makes this three-egg creation so cool is the top secret folding method. For all of IHOP's omelettes, the beaten eggs are mixed with the appropriate chunky ingredients, and the whole thing is poured out thin on a giant griddle. When the eggs have firmed up, two sides are folded over, the filling is positioned, and the omelette is rolled over once, twice, three times, so it ends up looking like a burrito, sort of. Now with this IHOP Country Omelette copycat recipe, we can execute the same egg origami at home with a 12-inch electric skillet, or a 12-inch stovetop griddle pan. You can find easy-to-cook hash brown potatoes in bags in the freezer section. Source: Top Secret Restaurant Recipes 2 by Todd Wilbur.
