Oven Parboiled Baby Back Ribs | Just A Pinch Recipes image

This is the BEST way to par boil ribs ever! So tender, all you need is a fork.

Prep Time 1 hours

Cook Time 2 hours

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 - slab of baby back ribs
1 bottle(s) sweet baby rays honey bbq sauce
1 bottle(s) sweet baby rays honey chipotle bbq sauce
3 pinch(es) chili powder (to taste)
15 clove(s) garlic
1 - sweet vadilia onion - chopped in quarters
- a lot of salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Remove the silver lining off the back of the baby back ribs. I find it easiest to make a long incision down the middle and remove it in two parts. Cut the ribs into 4 sections (about 3 - 4 ribs per portion)
  • Put the ribs in a large stock pot and cover with water. Combine the Garlic cloves, onion, salt, pepper and any other seasoning you like to use (I like Cavenders). Bring to a rolling boil, cover and simmer for an hour. Preheat your oven to 250
  • Take 2 large pieces of aluminum foil and put two sections of ribs in each. Slather the ribs with equal parts of the two Sweet Baby Ray's sauces. NOTE - you don't have to use both, I just like mine sweet and spicy! Sprinkle a little chili powder on top and tightly seal the aluminum packets.
  • Cook for 2 hours at 250 degrees. Remove and put your oven on broil. Open up the aluminum packets but do not remove the ribs. They will now go in the broiler to give the tops a nice crispy finish. Eye it, it can take anywhere from 2-5 minutes depending on how you like them.

  • First, we cooked for 6.5 hours on low, and the ribs came out moist and falling off the bone tender. Any longer, and they would have not have held together. Second, we also coated lightly in BBQ sauce when they came out, and then put them under the broiler for 7 minutes. That way, the outside was crispy and BBQ-like, but the inside was moist and so, so, tender. When we make again, we'll take them out after 6 hours, which is plenty on low! My wife said they are the best she's ever had, and my mother-in-law wanted the recipe!

  • Preheat oven to 300° and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. If your ribs have a thin membrane over the bones on the backside, remove by carefully sliding a knife under membrane and then peel it away.  In a small bowl stir together brown sugar, salt, garlic powder, pepper, paprika, mustard powder, and cayenne. Rub mixture all over ribs and place on prepared baking sheet. Cover with foil and bake until very tender, 2 hours.  Meanwhile make barbecue sauce: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine all sauce ingredients together. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer, stirring occasionally, until thickened, 1 hour. Turn oven to broil. Remove foil from ribs and brush both sides with barbecue sauce. Broil until sauce just starts to caramelize, 2 to 4 minutes.

KIMCHI JJIGAE WITH RIBS RECIPE - NYT COOKING
The world of bubbling jjigaes, or stews, is vast and varied. The most beloved might be kimchi jjigae, a pot of extra-fermented kimchi boiled in its own juices until mellowed and yielding. Pork belly, Spam and tofu are common protein additions, as are tuna and mackerel pike. In this version, baby back ribs lend both flavor and body to the broth and are fun to eat with your hands. In case your kimchi is less than ripe (it should taste sharp and funky), a couple of seasonings help fortify this jjigae’s flavor: Fish sauce adds savory depth, and maesil cheong (green plum syrup) lends rounded sweetness. And though watercress is not a traditional ingredient in kimchi jjigae, it is a favorite addition to this family recipe.

  • Turn off the heat and stir in the fish sauce and maesil cheong, adding more to taste. Season with a final pinch of gochugaru and salt if desired. Top the stew with the watercress, if using, and let it wilt slightly in the residual heat. Serve the pot of kimchi jjigae in the center of the table, family-style, with a ladle and bowls of fresh white rice and a plate for the bones.

SLOW COOKER BABY BACK RIBS RECIPE | ALLRECIPES
Great rib recipe. I did make a few modifications based on other review recommendations. I used coke instead of water, an entire can as I had more than three pounds of ribs to cook. I added about 4 cloves of minced garlic and a huge "dollup" of liquid smoke. Hubby absolutely loved the ribs and it is now my "go to" recipe for back ribs!
