Forget about fast food restaurants and greasy take out! You can make guilt-free fast food at home! Just choose healthy ingredients and use the oven instead of an oily skillet! These are the two secrets for the crispy and tender pretzel-crusted chicken bites.

Number Of Ingredients 7

3 ounces of pretzel
2 egg whites
5 ounces of chicken breast, cubed
3.5 ounces of butter, melted
1 teaspoon chili lime seasoning
1 teaspoon lime juice

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 430 degrees F/220 degrees C.
  • Crush the pretzels and add them to a bowl.
  • Whisk the egg whites. Add some water if needed.
  • Pour the whisked egg whites over the chicken pieces. Mix.
  • Remove the chicken pieces from the egg whites and add them to the pretzel bowl.
  • Mix to coat each chicken piece with pretzel crumbs.
  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • Place the chicken pieces on it, transfer to the oven and roast them for 20 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, whisk the melted butter with chili lime seasoning and lime juice.
  • Pour the melted butter mixture over the hot roasted chicken pieces.
  • Serve the chicken pieces with a dip.

2 chicken breasts, cut into bite size pieces
2 cups pretzels
2 eggs
1/4 c milk
1 c flour
salt and pepper
panko bread crumbs, optional
mustard, for serving

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Put pretzels in a ziptop bag and pound until crushed.
  • Arrange 2 bowls on the counter. In the first bowl, combine the eggs and milk. Mix until combined. In the second bowl add the flour and season with salt and pepper.
  • Working in batches, add the chicken pieces to the flour, then the egg, and finally in the pretzel bag. Leave the chicken in the bag until all of the chicken is in there.
  • Repeat with remaining chicken. (If there is not enough pretzel coating, you can add in some more crushed pretzels or panko-I used about 1/2 cup).
  • Close bag tightly and shake to coat all the chicken.
  • Arrange on a single layer on a cookie sheet.
  • Bake until chicken is cooked through, about 20 minutes.
