Garlic Cheese Sauce and Pretzel Bites Recipe | Land O’Lakes image

You won't be able to stop eating these chewy pretzel bites dipped in garlicky cheese sauce. Frozen bread dough makes these game day appetizers simple!

Pretzel Bites
12 unbaked frozen dinner rolls
6 cups water
2 tablespoons baking soda
1 teaspoon sugar
1 large Land O Lakes® Egg beaten
Coarse sea salt
Cheese Sauce
2 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Butter
1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh garlic
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup milk
10 (3/4-ounce) slices Land O Lakes® Deli American chopped

Steps:

  • Spray baking sheet with no-stick cooking spray. Place dinner rolls onto sheet; cover lightly with plastic food wrap. Let rise at room temperature 1 1/2-2 hours or until completely thawed and rolls feel soft.
  • Cut each roll into quarters. 
  • Heat oven to 425°F. Line another baking sheet with parchment paper; set aside.
  • Place water into large saucepan; bring to a boil over high heat. Carefully add baking soda and sugar. (Water will bubble up, then return to a gentle boil.) Drop half of dough pieces into gently boiling water; cook, stirring lightly, about 1 minute or until surface of dough has lightly bubbled appearance. Remove with slotted spoon; place onto prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining dough pieces.
  • Brush each dough bite with beaten egg; sprinkle with coarse salt. Bake 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Meanwhile, melt butter in 2-quart saucepan over medium-high heat until sizzling. Add garlic; continue cooking 1 minute or until fragrant. Add flour; stir to combine. Continue cooking 1-2 minutes. Gradually whisk in milk until well combined. Add cheese, stirring occasionally, until cheese is melted and sauce is slightly thickened. Serve with warm pretzel bites.
