2 tsp dried parsley
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder

EASY OVEN-BAKED BABY BACK RIBS - A FOOD LOVER'S KITCHEN

Easy Oven-Baked Baby Back Ribs - A Food Lover's Kitchen image

Oven-baked baby back ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender and flavorful, just like grilled ribs, but with a lot less effort.

Provided by Laura

Categories     Main Dish

Total Time 180 minutes

Prep Time 15 minutes

Cook Time 150 minutes

Yield 2

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 rack baby back ribs
2 tablespoons dry rub ((click to go to recipe))
1/2 cup bbq sauce ((click to go to recipe))

Steps:

  • Pre-heat the oven to 275F.
  • Rinse and pat the ribs dry with a paper towel. Remove the silver skin membrane.
  • Coat the ribs in dry rub.
  • Wrap the ribs in foil on a baking sheet, being sure to seal the edges tightly.
  • Cook for 2 hours. You’ll know it’s ready when the meat pulls back from the bone and becomes fork tender. Continue cooking until the bone gives easily when pulled (up to 4 hours for larger rack of ribs).
  • Peel back the foil and discard any juices. Baste the ribs with BBQ sauce.
  • Set the oven to broil. When hot, place the baking tray under the broiler for 3-5 minutes. Repeat with an additional layer of bbq sauce, if desired. Serve the ribs.

TONY ROMA'S WORLD-FAMOUS ORIGINAL BABY BACK RIBS
Tony Roma had already been in the restaurant business for many years when he opened Tony Roma's Place in North Miami, Florida in 1972. This casual diner featured food at reasonable prices, nightly live entertainment and the house specialty: baby back ribs. Soon, customers were traveling from miles away to get a taste of the succulent, mouth-watering ribs. One rib-lover came from Texas in 1976: Clint Murchison, Jr., a Texas financier and owner of the Dallas Cowboys. After sampling the baby backs, and claiming they were the best he'd ever tasted, he struck up a deal with Tony to purchase the majority of the U.S. rights to the company and planned for a major expansion.  The famous barbecue ribs served at the restaurant have been judged the "Best in America" at a national rib cook-off and have won more than 30 awards at other state and local competitions. The secret to the tender, melt-in-your-mouth quality of the ribs at Tony Roma's is the long, slow-cooking process. Here is the Top Secret Recipes version of the cooking technique.  The sauce cloned here is the sauce the made the chain famous—Tony Roma's serves it on their Original Baby Back Ribs. This version of the sauce uses a ketchup base, vinegar, dark corn syrup and a bit of Tabasco. The chain uses their sauce on baby back ribs and has started selling it by the bottle in each restaurant. Now you can make a version of your own that is less costly than the bottled brand, and can be used on any cut of ribs, or even chicken. Check out my clone recipes for these other 3 sauces: Caroline Honey Sauce, Blue Ridge Smokies Sauce, and Red Hots Sauce.Source: Top Secret Restaurant Recipes by Todd Wilbur.

  • First, we cooked for 6.5 hours on low, and the ribs came out moist and falling off the bone tender. Any longer, and they would have not have held together. Second, we also coated lightly in BBQ sauce when they came out, and then put them under the broiler for 7 minutes. That way, the outside was crispy and BBQ-like, but the inside was moist and so, so, tender. When we make again, we'll take them out after 6 hours, which is plenty on low! My wife said they are the best she's ever had, and my mother-in-law wanted the recipe!

  • To finish ribs under the broiler, set oven to broil and place the ribs bone side up, on a broiling rack, brush with barbeque sauce and place, uncovered, under the broiler for about 5 minutes until the sauce is bubbly and cooked on, watch carefully, so they don’t burn. Turn the ribs over and repeat on the meaty side. Remove the ribs from the broiling pan and let rest 5 minutes before slicing.
