35 graham crackers
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup butter
¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
1 cup chopped pecans

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (170 degrees C).
  • Place crackers on 10x15-inch sheet cake pan, covering bottom.
  • Bring sugar, butter, and cream of tartar to a boil in a saucepan. Add nuts; pour mixture oven the top of the crackers.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 10 minutes. Cool for a few minutes in the pan; remove from pan while still warm.

Very easy to make and delicious. Make it up the day before and set in refrigerator over night. This is a great recipe from a great southern cook, Paula Deen.

8 eggs
1 1/2 cups half-and-half
1/3 cup maple syrup
1/3 cup light brown sugar, packed
10 -12 slices soft bread, 1 inch thick
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
2/3 cup maple syrup
2 cups pecans, chopped

Steps:

  • Generously butter a 13 X 9 inch casserole dish;.
  • Mix the eggs, half and half, maple syrup,and sugar in a large bowl.
  • Place the bread slices in the prepared casserole dish and cover with the egg mixture: cover with plastic wrap and let soak overnight in refrigerator.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees; remove the casserole from refrigerator.
  • Make the Topping: melt the butter in a saucepan; add sugar and maple syrup and cook for 1 to 2 minutes; stir in pecans;.
  • Pour the mixture over the bread and bake for 45 to 55 minutes, allow to cool 10 minutes before serving, enjoy.

  • Preheat oven to 400°. In a large saucepan, whisk cornstarch and water until smooth; whisk in syrup. Bring to boil; cook and stir until thickened, about 4 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in butter until melted. Set aside to cool., On a lightly floured surface, roll dough for bottom crust to a 1/8-in.-thick circle; transfer to a 9-in. pie plate. Trim crust to 1/2 in. beyond rim of plate; flute edge. Chill 30 minutes. Meanwhile, roll remaining dough to 1/4-in.-thickness; cut out maple leaves with 1-1/2 to 2-1/2- inch cookie cutters.
