Our family just loves my husband's version of store-bought pizza rolls. They take some time to make, but they freeze well so we get to enjoy the fruits of our labor for a long time! —Julie Gaines, Normal, Illinois

4 cups shredded pizza cheese blend or part-skim mozzarella cheese
1 pound bulk Italian sausage, cooked and drained
2 packages (3 ounces each) sliced pepperoni, chopped
1 medium green pepper, finely chopped
1 medium sweet red pepper, finely chopped
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 jars (14 ounces each) pizza sauce
32 egg roll wrappers
Oil for frying
Additional pizza sauce for dipping, warmed, optional

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the cheese, sausage, pepperoni, peppers and onion. Stir in pizza sauce until combined. Place about 1/4 cup filling in the center of each egg roll wrapper. Fold bottom corner over filling; fold sides toward center over filling. Moisten remaining corner with water and roll up tightly to seal., In a Dutch oven or deep cast-iron skillet, heat 1-2 in. of oil to 375°. Fry pizza rolls until golden brown, 1-2 minutes on each side. Drain on paper towels. If desired, serve with additional pizza sauce.

This is just the base for a basic pepperoni pizza roll. I made this with leftover pizza toppings. I didn't feel like making any dough so I substituted egg roll wraps.

2 quarts canola oil for frying
1 egg
3 tablespoons water
1 (16 ounce) jar pizza sauce
1 (8 ounce) package sliced pepperoni
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 (14 ounce) package egg roll wrappers

Steps:

  • Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Whisk egg and water together in a small bowl.
  • Combine the pizza sauce and pepperoni in a blender or food processor. Process until pepperoni is well chopped and the sauce has thickened. Transfer sauce to a large bowl, and stir in mozzarella.
  • Lay out one eggroll wrapper on work surface. Place 1 tablespoon filling at the bottom center of the wrapper, leaving 1/2 inch border on each side. Lightly brush the wrapper edges with the egg mixture. Fold over both sides; roll up to encase filling in wrapper. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
  • Deep fry pizza rolls in batches until crisp and golden brown, 5-9 minutes.

Make the Cinnamon Rolls: In a medium bowl, mix the melted butter with the sugar, flour, cinnamon and vanilla extract to combine. Set aside. 3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a �-inch-thick rectangle. (It should be about 12 inches by 15 inches, but no need to be precise.) 4. Dollop the cinnamon filling all over the dough, then spread evenly to cover, reaching all the way to the edges. 5. Starting with the long side of the rectangle that's closest to you, roll the dough away from you into a tight spiral. When the dough is fully rolled, use a serrated knife to slice the dough into 9 even pieces (each about 1� inches thick). 6. Transfer the cinnamon rolls to the prepared pan, leaving space between them for the dough to expand. 7. In a small bowl, whisk the egg and water to combine. PIZZA HUT PAN PIZZA COPYCAT RECIPE | TOP SECRET RECIPES
The secret to perfect pan pizza is pressing the dough into a well-oiled pan (Pizza Hut uses soybean oil), then the pan is covered and the dough rises in a heated cabinet for 45 to 60 minutes. When the dough is topped, the edge is sprayed with a butter-flavored “food release” and the pie is baked at 500 degrees F until perfectly browned on top. You can use a 9-inch, 12-inch, or 15-inch deep dish pizza pan or cake pan for this recipe, and you’ll want to preheat your oven with a pizza stone in it to simulate the type of oven used at the chain. The hot ceramic surface of the pizza stone will cause the oil in the pan to cook the bottom of the dough so that it’s brown and crispy like an authentic pan pizza crust should be. I tried making the dough with cake flour, all-purpose flour, superfine “00” flour, bread flour and many combinations of these different flours which all contain varying amounts of gluten. I even tried rising the dough slowly in the refrigerator for various lengths of time as long as up to four days. But after a month of testing and about 30 pan pizzas later, I found the best dough to be straight bread flour, and to let the dough rise at room temperature.
