These pretzels are nice to take for lunches and good snacks. My sister gave this recipe to me and I have really enjoyed making them, but also eating them!

Prep Time 45 minutes

Cook Time 15 minutes

Yield 40 prezels

Number Of Ingredients 7

8 cups flour
1 tablespoon salt
4 tablespoons yeast or 4 envelopes fast rising yeast
1 cup oil
4 cups hot water
1 1/2 cups spaghetti sauce (more or less to taste)
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (more or less to taste)

Steps:

  • In a large mixing bowl, pour in the hot water, add yeast, oil, salt and flour.
  • Mix well and if needed you can add up to 2 more cups of flour.
  • Knead and divide dough into 40 pieces.
  • Roll each piece into a 8- 10 inch rope and shape into pretzel.
  • Place onto greased large cookie sheets.
  • Let rise.
  • Just before baking spread about 1+ tsps spaghetti sauce and about 1 T mozzarella cheese on each one.
  • Bake at 400 degF for 10- 15 minutes.
  • Remove from baking sheets and cool on racks.

1 tablespoon Crisco® 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Pure Olive Oil
1 tablespoon cornmeal
1 tablespoon Pillsbury BEST® All Purpose Flour
1 can (13.8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Classic Crust Pizza Crust
28 slices (1 1/2-inch size) pepperoni
8 pieces (1 oz each) mozzarella string cheese
4 teaspoons grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup tomato pasta sauce, heated

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 425°F. Brush large cookie sheet with 1/2 tablespoon of the oil. Sprinkle cookie sheet with cornmeal.
  • Sprinkle flour over work surface. On floured surface, unroll pizza crust dough; starting at center, press dough into 16x10-inch rectangle. With pizza cutter or knife, cut dough lengthwise into 4 (2 1/2-inch-wide) strips.
  • Evenly place 7 pepperoni slices on each dough strip, leaving 1/2 inch on each end uncovered. Cut each string cheese in half lengthwise. Place 4 cheese halves on pepperoni on each dough strip, overlapping ends to fit.
  • Bring up sides of each dough strip over pepperoni and cheese, and tightly pinch together, stretching dough as necessary to fully enclose cheese and pepperoni; pinch ends to seal. Lightly roll and shape into 16-inch logs. To make pretzel shape, form each log into U-shape, then cross the ends and fold dough over so ends rest on bottom of U-shape. Place pretzels on cookie sheet. Brush pretzels with remaining 1/2 tablespoon oil; sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
  • Bake 13 to 17 minutes or until pretzels are golden brown. Serve warm with pasta sauce for dipping.

  • Preheat oven to 400° and line two large baking sheets with parchment paper. In a medium bowl, combine 3/4 cup mozzarella with mini pepperoni, and Parmesan. Season with salt and crushed red pepper flakes.  Divide the dough into 6 pieces. Unroll each piece and fold into a rectangle. Roll to flatten into a thinner rectangle. Spoon a thin line of pizza sauce across the length of the dough and top with cheese mixture.  Seal dough tightly, making sure no cheese is exposed, and carefully roll into a tight rope. Twist into a pretzel shape and repeat with remaining dough, sauce, and cheese mixture.
