weight Pimiento-stuffed Green Olives

8 oz.

weight Black Olives

stalks Green Onions (scallions)

stick Butter, Room Temperature

1/2 c.

Mayonnaise

1 lb.

Monterey Jack Cheese, Grated

Steps:

  • Roughly chop both black olives and pimiento-stuffed green olives. Slice green onions into thin pieces. Combine butter, mayonnaise, cheese, olives and green onions in a mixing bowl. Stir together until thoroughly combined. Spread mixture onto French bread that has been sliced lengthwise. Bake at 350ºF for 20 to 25 minutes or until cheese is melted and browning.Mixture can also be refrigerated (up to two days) and used as a dip. Great with crackers.

6 ounces black olives, drained
6 ounces green olives with pimento, drained
2 stalks green onions
1 stick butter, room temperature
1/2 cup mayonnaise
12 ounces monterrey jack cheese, grated
1 loaf french bread, sliced lengthwise

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325. Chop up the black olives and pimiento-stuffed green olives. Slice the green onions into small, thin pieces. Combine the butter, mayonnaise, cheese, olives and green onions in a mixing bowl. Stir together until thoroughly combined. Spread the mixture onto the French bread and bake until the cheese is melted and browning. Should take approximately 20 minutes.

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. 2. Place the garlic cloves on a square of heavy foil, drizzle the olive oil over them, and sprinkle with salt and paper. 3. Wrap it up into a parcel and roast for one hour. 4. Or until the garlic is golden, nutty, and soft. Set it aside to cool and reduce the oven temperature to 350°F. (You can roast the garlic up to a couple of days ahead of time and keep it in a small jar of oil in the fridge. Roast a bunch of cloves! You never know when you’ll need ‘em!) 5. In a bowl, combine the cheeses, roasted garlic, chives, red pepper flakes, and some black pepper. 6. Stir to mix everything together, smushing the garlic cloves so that little bits are distributed throughout the cheese. (You can get in there and use your fingers if you’d rather!) 7. Cut the bread in 1.5 inch wide strips in one direction, taking care not to cut all the way through the loaf. 9. Rotate the bread 90 degrees and cut the bread crosswise again. Move slowly and use caution! A serrated knife helps immensely. 10. Set the bread on a large piece of foil and stuff the cheese mixture in between the rows. 11. And keep going until that bread is so stuffed with cheese, it can’t see straight! 12. Drizzle the melted butter evenly all over the surface of the bread. Wrap the bread in foil and bake for 25 minutes. Open up the foil and bake it for another 10 minutes. 13. Carefully unwrap the bread and dig in!
