One 8-ounce can original crescent dough
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
20 mini hot dogs or cocktail franks
1 egg, lightly beaten
Poppy seeds or sesame seeds
Tangy Dipping Sauce, recipe follows
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup mayonnaise
3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon whole-grain mustard

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Cut each triangle of crescent roll dough into thirds lengthwise, making 3 small strips from each roll.
  • Brush the dough strips lightly with Dijon mustard. Put the mini hot dogs on 1 end of the dough and roll up.
  • Arrange them, seam side down, on a greased cookie sheet. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with poppy seeds or sesame seeds. Bake until golden brown, about 12 to 15 minutes. Serve warm with the dipping sauce.
  • Mix all of the ingredients in a bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until serving. Can be made a day ahead.

tube refrigerated crescent rolls

mini hot dogs

1/4 c.

Dijon mustard

Egg wash

2 tsp.

poppy seeds

rosemary sprigs (for decoration)

Ketchup, for serving

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375° F. Line a large baking pan with parchment paper. Slice crescent rolls lengthwise into thirds. Brush all over with dijon mustard. Place a mini hot dog on the thick end of each triangle and roll up. Arrange the pigs in a blanket, side by side, in a circle on the baking sheet. They should be touching!  Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until the crescents are golden. Let cool for at least 20 minutes. Lay rosemary sprigs around the inside of the wreath and place a small bowl filled with ketchup in the center.

Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. , Cut a 1/4-in.-deep lengthwise slit in each hot dog. Cut cheese slices into five strips; place one strip in a slit of each hot dog., Punch dough down; divide into 10 portions. Roll each into a 5-in. x 2-1/2-in. rectangle and wrap around prepared hot dogs; pinch seam and ends to seal. , Place seam side down on greased baking sheets; let rise for 30 minutes. Bake at 350° for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
