1/2 cup vegetable oil
5 tablespoons cold water

Steps:

  • Combine flour and salt. Measure oil and water; don't stir. Pour on flour mixture, and mix with fork and hands. Makes 2 pie shells or 1 shell with top crust.

This pie crust is one of the simplest, tastiest ones you'll ever try.

Yield 1 double pie crust

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
½ cup vegetable oil
3 fluid ounces cold milk

Steps:

  • Sift flour and salt into a bowl. Pour vegetable oil into a 1-cup measure and fill the measure with milk up to the 7-ounce mark. Whisk oil and milk together and pour immediately into the bowl with flour. Mix the crust together with a fork just until it holds together. Do not knead.
  • Divide crust in half, form into balls, and roll each half out between sheets of waxed paper. Peel waxed paper from crusts to fit into pie plate.

  • Prepare pastry just before use. Don't store it. Sift together flour and salt. Combine the oil and ice water. Beat with fork till creamy. Add in all at once into the flour. Stir till mixed. Press into a smooth ball. Cut in half and flatten slightly. Place 1/2 portion between 12 inch squares of waxed paper. (Dampen the table to prevent waxed paper from slipping.) Roll out to paper edges. Peel off top of the paper. If dough tears, mend without moistening. Peel off paper and fit pastry into pan. Add in filling and trim crust. Top Crust: Roll as above. Place over the filling. Trim to rim. Flute edge. Put 3 or possibly 4 slits near the center. Bake about 40 min at 425 degrees till golden.
