1/4 cup basil pesto
1 large garlic clove, minced
1/4 cup sun-dried tomato packed in oil, drained and minced
salt & freshly ground black pepper
6 slices provolone cheese
6 slices tomatoes
1 purple onion, thinly sliced
6 tablespoons mayonnaise
6 onion rolls

Steps:

  • Combine beef, pesto, garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, salt and pepper. Mix together thoroughly and shape into 6 patties.
  • Grill burgers to desired doneness. Top with cheese slices just before burgers finish cooking.
  • Serve burgers on onion rolls with the mayonnaise, tomatoes and onion.

- 1 pound ground beef
- one 7-ounce package Giovanni Rana Basil Pesto, divided
- kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 4 slices provolone cheese
- 4 hamburger buns, split
- 1/2 red onion, sliced
- basil leaves

Steps:

  • Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Combine the ground beef with 1/3 cup of the pesto and salt and pepper to taste in a large bowl until well incorporated. Divide the meat mixture into four patties and grill to your desired doneness, anywhere between 3-4 minutes per side, adding 1 slice of cheese to each burger during the last 2-3 minutes of grilling. Toast the buns on the grill then brush them lightly with the remaining pesto. Top the bottom half of each bun with a cheese-topped burger patty, a red onion slice and some basil leaves. Top with the remaning bun halves.
