Perfect Prime Rib Every Time | Just A Pinch Recipes image

Prime rib can be intimidating but if you follow this easy recipe it will come out perfect. It's a perfect entree for your holiday meal or a special occasion. The trick is when you turn off the oven, do not open the door. Trust the process. We like ours on the rare side and followed her method. The prime rib was cooked perfectly. Guests are guaranteed to feel special when they sit down to this meal.

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 - prime rib roast with or without bone (any size)
- Garlic powder
- Salt
- Pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 550F degrees.
  • Make a rub of salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Apply to meat.
  • Place meat in a shallow roasting pan fat side up. Roast at 550 at 5 minutes per pound for RARE, or 6 minutes per pound for MEDIUM and 7 minutes per pound for WELL DONE.
  • Turn off oven at the end of cooking time and DO NOT OPEN OVEN DOOR FOR TWO HOURS.
  • At the end of the 2 hours, remove meat from oven to slice; it comes out perfect every time. Works the same with roast beef.
  • Try it you won't be disappointed.

Prime rib roast with or without bone, bottom round (one lb per person)
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
Garlic powder to taste

Steps:

  • "Preheat oven to 550F. Rub roast with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Place meat in shallow roasting pan, fat side up. Roast for 5 minutes per pound for rare; 6 minutes per pound for medium; 7 minutes per pound for well-done. Turn oven off at the end of the cooking time and DO NOT OPEN THE OVEN DOOR FOR TWO HOURS. At the end of the 2 hours, remove from oven; slice and serve."

  • In a small bowl, combine the first four ingredients; rub half over the roast. Place roast in a large resealable plastic bag; seal and refrigerate overnight, turning often. Cover and refrigerate remaining marinade., Drain and discard marinade. Place roast fat side up in a large roasting pan; pour reserved marinade over roast. Tent with foil. Bake at 350° for 1 hour. Uncover and bake 1-1/2 hours longer or until meat reaches desired doneness (for medium-rare, a thermometer should read 135°; medium, 140°; medium-well, 145°). Let stand for 15 minutes before slicing.
