CHEESEBURGER ONION RINGS RECIPE BY TASTY

Here's what you need: ground beef, salt, pepper, onion powder, cheddar cheese, large white onion, flour, eggs, panko breadcrumbs, oil, ketchup

Yield 6 onion rings

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 lb ground beef
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon onion powder
¼ lb cheddar cheese, cut into 1-inch (2 cm) squares
1 large white onion
1 cup flour
5 eggs, beaten
3 cups panko breadcrumbs
oil, for frying
ketchup

Steps:

  • Heat oil in a pot over medium heat to 350°F (180°C).
  • In a bowl, mix together the ground beef, salt, pepper, and onion powder.
  • Peel and slice the onion into 1-centimeter (½ inch) rings. Detach the rings from each other.
  • Take a spoonful of the beef mixture and press it into the bottom of a ring.
  • Push a cheddar square into the center of the beef.
  • Seal the top with another spoonful of the beef, pressing it flat.
  • Repeat with the rest of the rings.
  • Place the flour, eggs, and bread crumbs into three separate bowls.
  • Dip a ring into the flour, shaking off excess, then into the egg, the bread crumbs, then back to the eggs, and one last time into the breadcrumbs.
  • Repeat with the remaining rings.
  • Fry the rings for 5-6 minutes, until deep golden-brown.
  • Drain on a paper towel, then serve with ketchup!
  • Enjoy!

Sweet, yet savory, grilled onions bump up the flavor and make these burgers taste deliciously gourmet. To avoid watering eyes when prepping the onions, peel and chill them before slicing into rings. And, they’ll stay intact while flipping them on the grill if you use a large pair tongs instead of a spatula. This recipe only calls for topping the burgers with tomatoes but a handful of arugula, spinach or other tender lettuce leaves would make a tasty addition too.

Steps:

  • Preheat grill to medium-hot heat.
  • In a medium bowl, gently combine beef, garlic, salt and pepper; form into four 1/2-inch-thick patties. Place on grill and cook 4-5 minutes; flip and continue cooking until desired degree of doneness, 3-4 minutes more. Sprinkle each burger with 2 Tbsp cheese; cook until cheese melts, about 1 minute.
  • Meanwhile, brush both sides of onion with oil. Grill until bottom is lightly browned, 3-4 minutes. Flip onion and sprinkle with oregano; grill 2-3 minutes more.
  • Lightly toast open-faced buns on grill. Place burgers on buns and top each with 1 slice onion (separated into rings) and 2 tomato slices.
  • Serving size: 1 burger
