2 sm Onions, peeled & diced
3 med Carrots, peeled & diced
4 ounce Bacon, diced
2 Tbsp. Butter
3 Tbsp. Flour
4 c. Chicken broth
1/2 c. Lowfat milk
1/4 c. Amberg's Sur-Lie Chardonnay
10 ounce Heluva Good Sharp Cheddar Cheese
    Salt, pepper and nutmeg

Steps:

  • Cook bacon in butter till light brown. Add in onions and carrots and saute/fry for a few min. Stir in flour and cook for 2 min, stirring continuously. Add in broth, lowfat milk and Chardonnay. Simmer for 10 min. Add in cheese and season to taste.

Spread
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup milk
1 pound Land O Lakes® Deli American chopped
1 teaspoon spicy brown mustard
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 (5.5-ounce) can spicy vegetable juice *
2 to 3 tablespoons prepared horseradish
2 tablespoons sliced green onions
Dippers
Pretzels, crackers and/or pumpernickel or rye cocktail bread

Steps:

  • Combine all spread ingredients except vegetable juice, horseradish and green onions in 3-quart saucepan. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, 8-10 minutes or until smooth. Stir in vegetable juice, horseradish and green onions. Spoon into crock or serving bowl. Cover; refrigerate at least 2 hours.
  • Serve with dippers as desired.
