Yield Serves 2 (serving size: about 1/2 cup)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats (such as Quaker Oats Old-Fashioned Rolled Oats)
1 cup milk
1 cup water
1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon honey
Desired toppings (such as sliced almonds, peanut butter, or fresh fruit)

Steps:

  • Combine oats, milk, water, salt, and cinnamon in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Simmer uncovered for 3 to 5 minutes until thickened, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Divide equally between two bowls. Drizzle each serving with 1/2 teaspoon honey. Add additional desired toppings and serve.

3 cups water
2 medium tart apples, chopped
1-1/2 cups old-fashioned oats
Dash salt
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup chopped almonds
Optional: Maple syrup and fat-free milk

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, bring water to a boil. Add apples, oats and salt; cook and stir for 5 minutes. , Remove from the heat; stir in brown sugar, cinnamon and vanilla. Cover and let stand for 2 minutes. Sprinkle each serving with almonds. If desired, serve with syrup and milk.
