Army SOS Creamed Ground Beef Recipe | Allrecipes image

My aunt used to serve this to her husband, a retired Army colonel, and she said he never got tired of it!

1 pound ground beef
¼ cup all-purpose flour
1 cube beef bouillon
¾ teaspoon salt
1 pinch ground black pepper
2?¼ cups milk
¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • Brown beef in a large skillet over medium high heat. Stir in flour, bouillon, salt and pepper. Saute all together for about 5 minutes or until flour is absorbed. Gradually stir in milk and Worcestershire sauce. Bring all to a simmer, stirring constantly. Cook until thickened, about 5 to 10 minutes. Serve hot!

After 32 years in the military, I have become quite fond of S.O.S.. I'm the cook in our house, but I get breakfast cooked for me twice a year (my birthday and anniversary). My request is always the same--S.O.S. This is my wife's recipe--I love it.

Cook Time 15 minutes

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 lb ground beef or 1 lb jimmy dean's hot sausage
2 cups milk
4 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons flour
1 -2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
6 slices whole wheat bread

Steps:

  • Brown the ground beef or sausage, drain and set aside. Be sure to season the ground beef with a little salt and pepper.
  • Melt butter in sauce pan. Add flour and stir till butter/flour mixture is bubbly.
  • Add milk, salt, and pepper.
  • Stir constantly until thick and bubbly.
  • Add meat and stir.
  • Serve over whole wheat toast. Great over biscuits as well.
  • Note: For an evening meal substitute chipped beef.

Then my mom started making it for my brothers David who oined the Navy & my brother James who joined the Marines. In the main pic to this recipe is a pic of 3 of my brothers. The pic of the polit is my fourth brother. This time of the year I wish they were all home. Any one is the Military or married to a Military guy/gal.
