No bake graham cracker-applesauce cake - BigOven image

"Easy, delicious no bake cake perfect for showers or any get together"

1 box graham crackers
1 large jar plain unsweetened applesauce
2 boxes flavored Jello (any flavors you wish different or same)
1 large tub Cool Whip

Steps:

  • "Start by taking two bowls (if you're using two packets of the same flavor Jello-o you only need one large bowl) Split applesauce evenly between two bowls. Add one packet of Jell-o to each bowl and stir well until all the Jell-o has dissolved. Take a large rectangle cassarole dish and lay down a layer of graham cracker, make sure crackers are touching eachother. Then lay down a smooth even layer of one of the flavors of applesauce, then another layer of cracker. Alternate crackers and applesauce until you run out of one ingredient or the other, ending in a top layer of graham cracker. Cover entire cake with Cool Whip. Let sit in fridge 2-3 hours"

Not your typical fruit cake! We eat this one down South (Florida) and Granmama finally let me have the recipe. No baking, no aging and none of that "whatsit?" fruit!

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 lb graham cracker
1 lb raisins
1/2 lb pecans
1 (16 ounce) jar maraschino cherries
24 big marshmallows
1 (14 ounce) can condensed milk

Steps:

  • Crush the graham crackers into fine crumbs.
  • Granmama's recipe calls for "puffed" raisins. To puff them, soak in hot water for 30 minutes.
  • Chop the nuts; drain and cut cherries in half (if they are whole).
  • Melt marshmallows in milk.
  • Mix all ingredients together.
  • Pack into regular sized loaf pan.
  • Refrigerated overnight and cut with a hot knife.
  • Coconut is an optional ingredient.
  • Cook time is refrigeration time.
