Side dishes don't get much better than this - creamy, classic mashed potatoes with a hot mustard kick

1 ½kg potatoes , cut into chunks
100g butter
100ml milk
1 tsp English mustard

Steps:

  • Tip the potatoes into a large saucepan, cover with boiling water and boil for 20 mins or until soft. Drain the potatoes in a colander and leave to steam-dry for a few moments before putting them back in the pan. Add the butter, milk and mustard, season well, then mash thoroughly until creamy. Cover to keep warm until serving.

All you and your guests have to do is just dunk and pop them into your mouth. Using refrigerated store-bought dough makes it seem like you spent hours in the kitchen, when in reality these come together in just 40 minutes. You can go sweet with a pre-made honey mustard dip or make it a little bit spicy by adding some hot red pepper sauce.

8 oz Refrigerated bread stick dough
1 pound(s) Uncooked boneless skinless chicken thigh(s) cut into 24 equal-size pieces
0.25 cup(s) Honey mustard Dipping Sauce
3 Tbsp Honey mustard
1.5 tsp Low sodium soy sauce
2 tsp Chives fresh, minced

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375ºF. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Unroll dough and cut it into 24 strips; place strips horizontally in front of you. Top each strip with a piece of chicken and brush chicken with some mustard; roll dough around chicken (chicken will stick out on the ends).
  • Place chicken bites on prepared baking sheet. Bake until dough is golden brown and chicken is cooked through, about 15 to 20 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
  • Meanwhile, combine mustard and soy sauce in a small bowl; sprinkle with chives. Yields 1 chicken bite per serving.
