Taken from my mom's treasury of recipes. You can substitute craisins instead of the raisins - they taste wonderful too!

Cook Time 15 minutes

Yield 24-36 cookies

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 3/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup nuts, chopped (optional)
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 1/4 cups sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
6 tablespoons molasses

Steps:

  • Combine first eight ingredients in a bowl and mix well. In a separate bowl cream together the remaining four ingredients and mix with dry mix. Drop by teasoonfuls on cookie sheet and bake at 325 degrees for 12-15 minutes.

1/2 cup vegetable oil or 1/2 cup canola oil
1 1/4 cups sugar
2 eggs
1/3 cup molasses
2 cups oatmeal
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt (optional)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup pecans, chopped
1 cup raisins
1 teaspoon baking powder
sugar, for rolling

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Mix all ingredients together, dough will be thick.
  • Using your hands, form into small balls (the size of a radish), and roll in sugar.
  • Place on greased cookie sheet, making sure cookies do not touch each other.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes.

  • Set oven at 350 degrees. Sift flour, baking soda, baking pwdr, salt, and spices into bowl. Add in remaining ingredients and blend. To make jumbo cookies, use 1/4 c. dough for each cookie; place on ungreased baking sheets and bake 15 min. For smaller cookies, drop by heaping tsp. and bake 12 min. Recipes should yield about 18 large cookies or possibly 48 small ones. These taste like oatmeal cookies flavored with molasses. If you use black strap molasses, the cookies taste like molasses cookies with oatmeal. I like it both ways!
