Filling, creamy, and well-seasoned, enjoy a delightful start to your day with this McDonald's-inspired steak egg and cheese bagel.

Provided by Mary

Total Time 19 minutes

Prep Time 2 minutes

Cook Time 12 minutes

Yield 2

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 oz (4 tbsp) divided unsalted butter
1 small, diced onion
1 tsp divided salt
½ lb shaved steak
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
2 plain bagels
4 large eggs
4 slices American cheese
optional steak sauce

Steps:

  • Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a small, nonstick pan, or skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and ¼ teaspoon of salt to the pan and sauté until just softened and lightly browned.
  • Meanwhile, toss the shaved steak with the Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and some of the ground black pepper.
  • Transfer the onion to a plate. Increase the heat to high and add the shaved steak to the pan in one even layer. Cook, without stirring, for 2 minutes or until the steak is browned. Stir and continue to cook until completely cooked through. Transfer the steak to the plate with the onion. Cover to keep warm.
  • Toast the bagels, then spread 1 tablespoon of the butter over the 4 halves.
  • Melt the remaining butter in the pan over low heat. Add ½of the beaten eggs and cook, gently stirring, with a rubber spatula to expose the raw egg to the bottom of the pan to create an omelet.
  • Once the omelet is cooked through, fold it in half with the rubber spatula.
  • Then, fold the omelet in half once more and top with 2 slices of the cheese.
  • Repeat with the remaining eggs and cheese.
  • Divide the steak and onion between 2 of the bagel halves. Top each with the eggs and cheese, then cover with the remaining bagel halves.
  • Serve immediately with steak sauce for dipping or spooning over the top, if desired.

BACON, EGG, CHEESE BAGEL RECIPE - FOOD.COM

Bacon, Egg, Cheese Bagel Recipe - Food.com image

This is my attempt at a copy of the "Arches" breakfast sandwich. My son always requests this on our day off together and when my wife is off on Saturdays she looks for it too.

Total Time 10 minutes

Prep Time 0S

Cook Time 10 minutes

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 egg
3 slices bacon (I use turkey)
1 slice cheese (which ever you like)
1 bagel (I use plain)
1 tablespoon milk
2 teaspoons mayonnaise
1 teaspoon mustard
1 dash pepper

Steps:

  • I do all of this on an electric skillet which makes it quick and easy. Set the skillet to about 300 degrees F.
  • Cook bacon on the side of skillet closest to electric plug. (this is hottest side).
  • Crack egg into cup and pour about a tbsp of milk into the egg, add pepper if you like.
  • Beat the egg/milk until it is uniform.
  • Pour onto other side of the skillet.
  • Allow it to cook until the top is solid enough to flip, then flip to other side.
  • Place bagel into toaster. (I like to time it so that the bagel gets done when the egg does so that I can put the cheese on the bagel and put the egg on top of it to melt the cheese.).
  • Place bacon on top of egg.
  • "Sauce".
  • Mix Mayo and mustard in a 2 to 1 ratio. I use 2 tsp Mayo to 1 tsp mustard. I also add pepper to it and mix.
  • Spread onto bagel and enjoy.

MCDONALD'S BACON EGG AND CHEESE MCGRIDDLE RECIPE
It was the creator of Pizza Hut’s Stuffed Crust Pizza who came up with the idea to cook bits of maple syrup into small pancakes for a new sweet-and-savory breakfast sandwich offering from the world’s #1 fast food chain. Tom Ryan’s idea became a reality in 2003 when the McGriddles—with maple-flavored griddle cake buns—debuted on McDonald’s breakfast menu, and the sandwich is still selling like hotcakes today. To make four cloned McGriddles at home you’ll first need to produce eight perfectly round griddle cakes that are infused with sweet maple bits. Recipes that instruct you to make hard candy from maple syrup for this hack will fail to tell you that the shattered shards of hard candy don't completely melt when the griddle cakes are cooked resulting in a distinct crunch not found in the real McDonald’s product. Also, breaking the hard maple candy into small uniform chunks is both difficult and messy. My solution was to make a flavorful maple gummy puck that could be neatly petite diced and sprinkled into the batter as it cooks.   Just be sure to use maple flavoring rather than maple extract for the maple gummy. Maple flavoring has a more intense flavor than the extract and the dark brown caramel coloring will make your maple bits look like pancake syrup. You’ll also need one or two 3½-inch rings to make griddle cakes that are the perfect size for your clones. This recipe duplicates the bacon version of the sandwich, but you can replace the bacon with a patty made from breakfast sausage for the sausage version, or just go with egg and cheese.
