MAPLE SYRUP RECIPE - FOOD.COM

Maple Syrup Recipe - Food.com image

We have been making our own syrup forever and it is soooo easy. We recently had guests for the weekend and had a pancake breakfast. They had never had homemade syrup before so I decided to post it. There are a couple other syrup recipes on here, but none with the same ingredients.

Total Time 7 minutes

Prep Time 2 minutes

Cook Time 5 minutes

Yield 1 cup

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon maple extract

Steps:

  • Place sugar and water in small saucepan.
  • Bring to boil.
  • Boil just for a couple of minutes, so that all sugar is dissolved and syrup is clear.
  • Add Mapleine (extract) to taste (as dark as you want it).
  • Store in refrigerator, covered.
  • This recipe can be adapted to make any amount of syrup- Just always double your sugar to water, ie 2 cups sugar, 1 cup water.

Total Time 1 hours 25 minutes

Prep Time 15 minutes

Cook Time 10 minutes

Yield 25 madeleines

Number Of Ingredients 7

3 eggs
½ cup white sugar
1 teaspoon honey
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ cup unsalted butter, melted
1 pinch salt

Steps:

  • Combine eggs, sugar, and honey in a large bowl. Whisk gently for 4 to 5 minutes. Avoid whisking too vigorously and do not use high speed if using an electric mixer; the end mixture should be light and frothy.
  • Sift flour and baking powder into the egg mixture. Fold in gently until well combined. Add melted butter and salt, stirring well. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill batter in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 460 degrees F (240 degrees C).
  • Fill silicone madeleine molds with the batter, filling each 3/4 full.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 1 minute, then reduce the oven temperature to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Bake for 4 minutes, then reduce again to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 5 minutes more.
