Maple-Pecan Glazed Ham Recipe: How to Make It image

Provided by Hy-Vee Seasons Magazine

Prep Time 15 minutes

Cook Time 2 hours 25 minutes

Yield 18 about 6-oz. each

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 whole or half Hy-Vee spiral-sliced ham
1 (2 oz) pkg Hy-Vee pecan pieces
1 (8 oz) bottle Hy-Vee Select 100% pure maple syrup
1 (12 oz) jar Hy-Vee orange marmalade
1 tbsp. of Hy-Vee unsalted butter

Steps:

  • 1.

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Remove all packaging material from ham. Discard glaze packet.

  • 2.

Line a baking pan with 2 large pieces of foil (24 inches long for a half ham and 36 inches long with a whole ham), making an X with the pieces of foil. Place ham on its side in the center of the foil. Wrap ham tightly and place in baking pan.

  • 3.

Bake until ham reaches an internal temperature of 140 degrees, approximately 15 to 17 minutes per pound. Estimated heating time for half a ham, 2 to 2-1/4 hours and for a whole ham, 3 to 3-1/4 hours.

  • 4.

While ham is baking, toast pecans by placing pecan pieces on a microwave-safe plate. Microwave on HIGH for 1 minute. Stir pecan pieces and continue to heat on HIGH at 30-second increments, stirring and checking after each 30 seconds, until slightly browned.

  • 5.

For glaze, combine maple syrup and orange marmalade in a small saucepan. Heat on medium high heat, stirring often, until bubbly. Whisk in butter until smooth. Stir in toasted pecans.

  • 6.

In the last 15 minutes of baking, uncover the ham from the foil and baste ham with glaze. Leave ham uncovered for remaining baking time. Heat any remaining glaze and serve with ham.
