1 cup (224g) vegetable oil
2 cup (480g) buttermilk (room temperature)
2 teaspoons kosher salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
4 teaspoons baking soda
1½ cups (180g) unsweetened cocoa powder
4 cups (800g) granulated sugar
2 cups (474g) freshly brewed hot coffee
2 cups (4 sticks or 452g) unsalted butter, ( at room temperature)
6-8 cups (750-1000g) confectioners sugar
1 cup maple syrup
1 teaspoon McCormick Maple Extract
2 teaspoons McCormick Vanilla Extract

2/3 cup butter, softened
1-3/4 cups sugar
2 large eggs
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1-1/4 cups 2% milk
2-1/2 cups frosting of your choice

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition., Pour into two greased and floured 9-in. round baking pans. Bake 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely. , Spread frosting between layers and over the top and sides of cake.
