Ingredients

1 cup water
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon maple flavored extract

Steps:

Bring the water, white sugar, and brown sugar to a boil in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low, and stir in the maple extract; simmer 3 minutes longer.

Ingredients

4 salmon fillets (6 ounces each)
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup maple syrup
3 tablespoons bourbon
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
4 green onions, chopped
4 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled

Steps:

Place salmon in a shallow dish. Combine brown sugar, maple syrup and bourbon; pour over salmon. Let stand 15 minutes.
In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add salmon; cook until fish just begins to flake easily with a fork, 4-6 minutes on each side. Remove and keep warm. Add walnuts, green onions and bacon to skillet; heat through. Serve with salmon.

Grease a 9 x 5 loaf pan with shortening. Preheat oven to 350ºF. Stir flour and sugar together. Pour in beer and stir until foaming subsides and flour is incorporated. Spoon into prepared pan and bake for 50–60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean or an instant-read thermometer reads about 190ºF. Immediately remove from pan and set on a wire rack on top of a rimmed baking sheet. Pour melted butter over the top and brush sides. Let bread cool for 15 minutes or so, then serve warm. Once the bread is completely cooled, it can be sliced to use for sandwiches, toasted, or served plain.
