Manhattan Recipe - Bon Appétit image

It's a classic drink that never gets old, and this Manhattan recipe has no added frills, thrills, or paper umbrellas.

Yield Makes 1 Servings

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 dashes angostura bitters
1 ounce sweet vermouth
2 1/2 ounces bourbon, such as Buffalo Trace
1 maraschino cherry

Steps:

  • Fill a short glass 2/3 full with ice. Add bitters, vermouth, and bourbon. Add cherry (and crush it against the side of the glass with a spoon). Stir.

2 3/4 ounces rye whiskey
1/2 ounce dry vermouth 
1/2 ounce sweet vermouth 
2 dashes Angostura bitters 
Lemon twist, for garnish 

Steps:

  • Combine the rye, dry vermouth, sweet vermouth and bitters in a cocktail shaker, add ice, and stir until chilled. Strain the mixture into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with the lemon twist and serve immediately.
