BASIC CHOC CHIP COOKIES RECIPE - KIDSPOT
Choc chip cookies are a tried and true family favourite biscuit. The tasty combination of the vanilla cookie dough with delicious chunks of chocolate make them a yummy snack any time of the day.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan-forced). Line three trays with baking paper and set aside. In a mixing bowl, cream the butter, sugar and vanilla.
- Add the egg and then flour and salt and combine.
- Stir in the chocolate chips.
- Roll into teaspoon-sized balls and place on prepared trays, leaving enough room for mixture to spread as it cooks. Bake for 8-12 minutes. Leave on the tray for a few minutes before continuing the cooling on wire racks.

Steps:
- Mix flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt in large bowl. Set aside. Beat sugar and butter in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well. Gradually beat in flour mixture on low speed until well mixed.
- Refrigerate dough 2 hours or until firm.
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in additional sugar or Colored Sugar. Place 2 inches apart on baking sheets.
- Bake 6 to 8 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on baking sheets 1 minute. Remove to wire racks; cool completely.
