For people who don't want tons of sugar in their rubs, it's a nice change to provide lighter ribs. When I don't have spare ribs, I have pork chops.

1 pound pork spareribs, cut into 3 inch pieces
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 (1 inch) piece fresh ginger root, sliced
5 green onions cut into 2-inch pieces
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 cups water
1?½ tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 teaspoon rice wine
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil, then add the spareribs, and cook uncovered for 3 to 5 minutes. Drain in a colander and set aside.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over high heat. Stir in the ginger, green onions, and cinnamon; cook and stir until fragrant. Stir in the spareribs and cook for 3 to 5 minutes. Pour in the water, soy sauce, sugar, and rice wine. Season with salt and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover. Simmer until the spareribs are tender, about 1 hour.

These Instapot Asian Pork Spare Ribs are amazingly delicious, and don't take a lot of time to make! Make sure to also make our secret sticky and sweet BBQ sauce to go with them. In less than an hour, you will have delicious Asian pork spare ribs, much better than at a restaurant!

1 rack Pork Spare Ribs
Chinese BBQ Sauce
Salt

Steps:

  • If your rack of pork spare ribs has a membrane, remove the membrane.Season the spare ribs with salt.Add a cup and a half of water to the Instant Pot. Inside, arrange the rack of ribs horizontally.
  • Place the lid on the Instant Pot, use the manual setting, and cook for 22 minutes. Use Natural Release, and wait for the valve to drop. Once the valve drops, carefully open the lid and remove the ribs from the Instant Pot. Place the ribs on a cutting board to cool.
  • Once the ribs are cool, cut the rack of ribs into single ribs. Use a basting brush to spread Chinese BBQ Sauce all over the ribs.Preheat the broiler. Cover your broiler pan with foil. Arrange the ribs on the broiler pan.Broil the ribs on one side for 3-5 minutes, until they are caramelized. Turn the ribs, and broil them on the other side for 3-5 minutes more.Serve with Instant Pot Potato Salad and Cucumber Tomato Salad with Cauliflower.
