THE SIDECAR RECIPE - JONNY RAGLIN | FOOD & WINE

The Sidecar Recipe - Jonny Raglin | Food & Wine image

According to cocktail expert Dale DeGroff, the Sidecar—said to be invented in the 1930s—is an update of a much older drink called the Brandy Crusta. While many bartenders consider the sugar rim essential to both drinks, Jonny Raglin asks people their preference. “If no rim, then I simply garnish the drink with a twist.” Slideshow:  More Classic Cocktail Recipes

STEVE MCQUEEN RECIPE - JONNY RAGLIN | FOOD & WINE
“I know that apples and ginger go well together, but my wife makes a ginger-and-orange doughnut that is nothing short of exquisite, so I combined the three flavors for this mocktail,” Jonny Raglin says. He makes it with a gastrique, a syrup of vinegar, sugar and, typically, fruit. Like a real cocktail, it has a sugared rim. (Note: The bitters in the drink are alcohol-based. For a completely nonalcoholic cocktail, leave them out.) Slideshow:  More Nonalcoholic Drink Recipes
