1 pound ground beef
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 can (10-1/2 ounces) condensed French onion soup, undiluted
1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
6 hamburger buns, split and toasted

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, brown the beef; drain. Stir in flour, soup and Worcestershire sauce until blended. Bring to a boil; cook and stir over medium heat for 2 minutes or until thickened. Serve on buns.

1 1/2 lb. lean (at least 80%) ground beef
1/4 cup ketchup
1 (1.31 to 1.5-oz.) pkg. sloppy Joe seasoning mix
6 (3/4-oz.) slices American cheese or American pasteurized prepared cheese product
6 burger buns, split

Steps:

  • Heat gas or charcoal grill. In large bowl, combine ground beef, ketchup and sloppy Joe seasoning mix; mix gently. Shape mixture into 6 patties, 1/2 inch thick.
  • When grill is heated, carefully oil grill rack. Place patties on gas grill over medium heat or on charcoal grill 4 to 6 inches from medium coals. Cover grill; cook 13 to 15 minutes or until meat thermometer inserted in center of patties reads 160°F., turning once. During last 1 to 2 minutes of cooking time, place cheese on patties; cook until melted. Serve patties in buns.
