How To Make Umeboshi image

Sushi, Japan’s most iconic dish, comes in various shapes and sizes. In this recipe, we’ll show you how to make Umeboshi wrap, consisting of Japanese pickled plum fruit, rice and avocado fillings, wrapped in nori seaweed. Presenting a subtly sweet flavour perfect for vegetarians! If you’ve never tried nori – now’s your chance!

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 cups Cooked sushi rice
2 pieces Nori (Dried seaweed)
1 Avocado
2 pieces Umeboshi, pickled plum

Steps:

  • Wet your hands. Using your hands, spread a thin layer of rice on the sheet of nori.
  • Place sliced avocado and a small slice of Umeboshi on top of rice.
  • Wrap and voila! Your umeboshi wrap is ready to serve

No one will believe that this cake is made with dried plums. It came from my grandmother and is easy to make and delicious.

Yield 1 11x9-inch cake

Number Of Ingredients 15

2 cups white sugar
½ cup canola oil
3 eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup pitted prunes, chopped
1 teaspoon ground allspice
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup chopped pecans
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup buttermilk
1 cup white sugar
¼ cup butter
½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Grease and flour a 11x9-inch pan.
  • Blend sugar and canola oil together in a mixing bowl using an electric mixer. Add eggs, flour, prunes, allspice, baking soda, and salt; mix well. Add buttermilk, pecans, and vanilla extract and combine. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 45 minutes.
  • While cake is baking, mix buttermilk, sugar, butter, and vanilla extract together in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook until it begins to thicken, about 5 minutes. Pour glaze over cake when it comes out of the oven.
  • Let glazed cake cool completely, about 30 minutes. Cut into squares.
