Baked in a pretty Bundt pan, company will love this cake and think you slaved over this in the kitchen. They'll never guess it starts with a boxed cake mix and canned frosting.

Ingredients

1 box(es) German chocolate cake mix (I used Duncan Hines because it is what I had; 15.25 oz)
4 large eggs
1 cup(s) water
1 cup(s) oil (corn or canola)
1 - tub of pecan/coconut frosting, room temp (15.5 oz)

Steps:

Mix eggs, water, and oil until blended.
Add dry cake mix. Mix until smooth.
Add tub of pecan/coconut frosting. Mix well.
Pour into a greased and floured Bundt pan (I use Baker Joy to spray pan).
Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes. WATCH CLOSELY. My oven took 45 minutes.
I did not frost it because the recipe I had said it did not need it. I just drizzled it with a powdered sugar chocolate drizzle. I was surprised at how great it was.

Ingredients

2 boxes Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ party rainbow chip cake mix
Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix boxes
2 containers Betty Crocker™ Whipped vanilla frosting
2 cups M&M's® chocolate candies
1 cup M&M's® minis chocolate candies
3/4 cup assorted Betty Crocker™ candy sprinkles

Steps:

Heat oven to 350°F. Grease or spray two 8-inch round cake pans; place 8-inch round piece of cooking parchment paper in bottom of each pan. Grease or spray parchment paper. In large bowl, beat 1 box cake mix and ingredients called for on box with electric mixer on low speed 30 seconds, then on high speed about 2 minutes or until smooth. Spread in pans. Bake as directed on box. Cool 10 minutes; run knife around sides of pans to loosen cakes. Gently remove from pans to cooling rack; remove parchment paper. Cool completely, about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, repeat to make 2 more layers.
Flatten cake layers by trimming off rounded tops. In 2 layers, cut small round out of center, using 4-inch round cutter.
To assemble cake: Place 1 uncut cake layer on cake stand or serving platter; spread 1/3 cup frosting on top. Top with 1 layer with center removed; spread 1/3 cup frosting on top. Top with second layer with center removed; spread 1/3 cup frosting on top.
Fill cake with candies and candy sprinkles. Gently press candies to level; top with full cake layer. Frost side and top of cake with remaining frosting.

DARK FRUIT CAKE | JUST A PINCH RECIPES

This is my SIL, Becky's, Great Great Uncle Lee A. Harley's Dark Fruit Cake recipe. It has also won several blue and red ribbons at the South Carolina State Fair in the 60s and 70s. It is a 7 pound cake. Becky says this one is her favorite! She also says that her Great Great Uncle Lee was a very sweet Christian man who loved the Lord. Before he started baking cakes he was a candy machine vendor and he had a following of children who would come to meet him every week when he came to fill the machines and he would give them gum and tell them about Jesus and his love for them. Enjoy!

NOTE 3: I also searched the Sauer's web site and they do not have a "cake spice" which is why I have made the assumption that "all spice" is what is meant. It may be that they used to have a spice with that name, but they no longer do. You, can, of course, choose any spice you like. AND more than a box of spice seems like an awful lot -- I consulted with Becky and she says it is a 7 pound cake so should be correct.
