Total Time 5 minutes

Cook Time 5 minutes

Yield 4 to 6 servings (about 1 cup)

Number Of Ingredients 1

1/2 pound unsalted butter

Steps:

  • Place the butter in a small saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Boil for 1 minute.
  • Set the saucepan aside and let the butter settle, undisturbed. The milk solids will come to the top of the butter and the watery whey will collect on the bottom. Skim off the milk solids with a spoon and pour the drawn butter into a serving bowl or several small ramekins, taking care not include the watery liquid in the bottom of the pan. Serve.

Provided by Erika Council

Prep Time 10 minutes

Cook Time 20 minutes

Yield 9 - 10

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 of stick of butter, melted
2½ cups of all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons of baking powder
4 teaspoons of granulated sugar
2 teaspoons of kosher salt
2 cups of buttermilk

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
  • Combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a medium-sized bowl. Add the buttermilk and gently mix all the ingredients together until a moist dough is formed.
  • Place the stick of butter in the 10.25 Inch Baker’s Skillet and place in the oven until the butter is melted, about 2-5 minutes depending on your oven. Remove from the oven.
  • Pour the dough right on top of the melted butter and use a spatula to gently spread it evenly across the skillet until it touches the sides.
  • Use a knife to cut the unbaked dough (it should be swimming in butter at this point) into mostly even squares. (It’s fine if they are not perfect squares.)
