This is a very flavorful pasta salad. The crisp cooked bacon really adds a nice flavor. I get requests for this pasta salad for every get together and cook out.

Steps:
- Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil; cook rotini at a boil until tender yet firm to the bite, about 8 minutes; drain.
- Place bacon in a skillet over medium-high heat and cook until evenly brown. Drain and chop.
- In a large bowl, mix mayonnaise, ranch dressing mix, garlic powder, and garlic pepper. Stir in milk until smooth. Place rotini, bacon, tomato, black olives and cheese in bowl and toss to coat with dressing. Cover and chill at least 1 hour in the refrigerator. Toss with additional milk if the salad seems a little dry.

- Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat, turning as needed, until the fat has rendered and the bacon is golden and crispy, 8 to 10 minutes total. (You may need to cook the bacon in two batches, draining the rendered fat from the skillet between batches.) Let the bacon cool to room temperature, then crumble up into bite-sized pieces. Cook the pasta according to package directions. Drain, rinse with cold water, and let cool. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, milk, ranch seasoning, lemon juice, parmesan cheese and black pepper. Add the pasta, tomatoes, lettuce, onion, herbs and half of the crumbled bacon to the bowl with the dressing. Gently fold together to coat. Top with remaining bacon and serve.

- For the dressing: Combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, parsley, and chives in a medium bowl and stir until smooth. Finely chop the garlic, then sprinkle with a pinch of salt. Smash the garlic with the flat side of a knife until it becomes a paste, then add it to the dressing. Stir in the buttermilk, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and a few grinds of black pepper. Refrigerate until ready to use. Place each lettuce wedge on a plate. Spoon some of the dressing on top, then sprinkle with the cheese and more chives. Serve the remaining dressing on the side.
