Steps:

  • Bring sugar, turmeric, and 2 cups water to a boil in a small saucepan over medium-low heat and cook, swirling pan occasionally, until liquid is reduced by about half, 25–30 minutes. Let dye cool before mixing into frosting or royal icing to make desired color.
