Best beef burger recipe | Homemade beef burgers | Ja… image

Serve this really tasty, easy homemade burger recipe with your favourite toppings.

Total Time 40 minutes

Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 12

12 Jacob's cream crackers
8 sprigs of fresh flat-leaf parsley
500 g quality minced beef
2 heaped tablespoons Dijon mustard optional
1 large free-range egg
olive oil
1 cos or round lettuce
3 ripe tomatoes
1 red onion
3-4 gherkins
6 slices of Cheddar cheese optional
6 quality burger buns

Steps:

    1. Wrap the crackers in a tea towel and smash up until fine, breaking up any big bits with your hands, then tip into a large bowl.
    2. Finely chop the parsley (stalks and all), then add to the bowl with the mustard (if using), and the minced beef.
    3. Crack the egg into the bowl, then add a good pinch of sea salt and black pepper.
    4. With clean hands, scrunch and mix everything up well. Divide into 6 and pat and mould each piece into a roundish shape, roughly 2cm thick.
    5. Place the burgers onto a plate, drizzle with oil, then cover and place in the fridge until needed – this will help to firm them up.
    6. To cook the burgers, preheat a large griddle or frying pan for 4 minutes on a high heat, then turn the heat down to medium.
    7. Place the burgers on the griddle or into the pan, then use a spatula to lightly press them down, making sure the burger is in full contact with the pan.
    8. Cook the burgers for 3 or 4 minutes on each side, depending on how you like them – you may need to work in batches.
    9. Meanwhile, wash and dry a few small lettuce leaves, tearing up the larger ones. Slice the tomatoes, peel and finely slice the red onion, then slice the gherkins lengthways as finely as you can.
    10. Place all the veg toppings, and the cheese (if using) on a platter and put in the middle of the table with plates, cutlery, ketchup and drinks.
    11. Once cooked, remove the burgers to a plate and carefully wipe the pan clean with a ball of kitchen paper.
    12. Halve the burger buns and lightly toast them in the pan, then serve up.

HOMEMADE VEGGIE BURGERS | JAMIE OLIVER BURGER RECIPES

Homemade veggie burgers | Jamie Oliver burger recipes image

Packed with flavour, these vegan corn burgers are healthy and seriously satisfying.

Total Time 30 minutes

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 13

1 x 400 g tin of chickpeas
1 x 340 g tin of sweetcorn
½ a bunch of fresh coriander (15g)
½ teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon ground coriander
½ teaspoon ground cumin
1 lemon
3 heaped tablespoons plain flour plus extra for dusting
rapeseed oil
1 small round lettuce
2 large ripe tomatoes
tomato ketchup
4 wholemeal burger buns

Steps:

    1. Drain the chickpeas and sweetcorn, then tip into a food processor. Pick the coriander leaves, adding half the leaves and all the stalks to the processor.
    2. Add the spices, flour and a pinch of sea salt, finely grate in the lemon zest, then pulse until combined, but not smooth – you want to retain a bit of texture.
    3. On a flour-dusted surface, divide and shape the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties, roughly 2cm thick. Place in the fridge for 30 minutes to firm up.
    4. Heat a splash of oil in a large frying pan over a medium heat, add the patties and cook for 10 minutes, or until golden and cooked through, turning halfway.
    5. Meanwhile, click off, wash and spin-dry four nice lettuce leaves, then finely slice the tomatoes horizontally.
    6. Squeeze a large dollop of ketchup onto the base of each bun (toast them if you like), then top with the burgers. Layer over a couple of slices of tomato, a lettuce leaf, a few coriander leaves and finally the burger tops. Delicious served with a fresh green salad.

BEST TURKEY BURGER RECIPE - HOW TO MAKE TURKEY BURGERS

From thepioneerwoman.com
Total Time 15 minutes
Category comfort food, dinner, grilled, main dish
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, mayonnaise, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire, seasoned salt, and black pepper.  Mix gently to combine well.  Divide the mixture into 6 even portions (about 6 ounces each).  Pat together into a tight ball, then press into a patty, ¾-inch thick. On the stovetop: Heat a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon vegetable oil and swirl to coat the pan. Place the patties in the skillet and let cook for 5 minutes. Flip and cook the other side until the internal temperature of the turkey burger reaches 165˚, about 5 more minutes.  If you like cheese on your burgers, add it during the last minute of cooking, then cover to melt. Alternatively cook on the grill: Preheat your grill over medium-high heat, 400 to 425˚. Oil the grill grates. Place the patties on the grill over direct heat. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes per side, covered, or until the internal temperature reads 165˚. If you like cheese on your burgers, add during the last minute of cooking, then cover to melt. Serve immediately on toasted buns with whatever toppings you like!

From thepioneerwoman.com

  • Cut the red onion into ½-inch thick round slices, keeping the circles of the onion intact. Set aside. Combine the bison, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper a large bowl. Mix gently but thoroughly to combine. Divide the mixture into four even portions, about 8 ounces each. Pat together into a ball (but not too tightly), then press into a patty, about 1-inch thick. Heat a large cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Add 2 tablespoons of butter and swirl to coat the pan. Place the onion slices in the pan and cook for 3 minutes on each side, until golden brown. Remove from the skillet and set aside. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter to the skillet. Place the bison patties in the skillet and sear until golden, about 5 minutes. Flip and cook the other side until the internal temperature of the burger reaches 130 to 135˚ (for medium-rare), 3 to 4 minutes more. If you like cheese on your burgers, add it during the last minute of cooking, then cover to melt.  Serve the burgers immediately on toasted buns with seared red onion rings, pickles, and BBQ sauce.
