Deep fried mushrooms are a delicious snack when watching football and make a simple party appetizer. One fried, these are crispy outside and tender and juicy inside. We had leftovers that we placed in the fridge. The next day, they were still yummy. Serve with ranch dipping sauce for a nibble your guests will love.

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 package(s) pre-washed button mushrooms (16 oz)
1 1/2 cup(s) all-purpose flour
1 cup(s) milk or buttermilk
1 large egg
- salt and pepper, to taste
- cooking oil

Steps:

  • Combine egg and milk in a small mixing bowl. Combine flour, salt, and pepper in another small mixing bowl.
  • Dip mushrooms into egg/milk mixture.
  • Roll in flour mixture to coat thoroughly.
  • Dip in milk mixture again.
  • Roll in flour mixture again.
  • Fry in a deep fat fryer at 375 degrees until golden brown.
  • Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.

Just a quick and easy recipe. I tried to find one on here, but this is the bare bones and very yummy!

Number Of Ingredients 4

8 -10 ounces whole white mushrooms
3/4 cup flour
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs

Steps:

  • Wash the mushrooms and remove most of the stem.
  • Pat mushrooms dry with a paper towel.
  • Coat mushrooms with flour, lightly tap to remove excess flour.
  • Dip in eggs.
  • Coat with bread crumbs.
  • Set on a rack for a few minutes, so batter sets/dries.
  • Heat the oil in the deep fryer to 375 degrees. Pay close attention to grease while it heats. Cooking with oil at high heat levels can be dangerous!
  • Deep fry mushrooms in batches for approximately 3- 4 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Drain on paper towels and serve.
