1 can (12.4 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Cinnamon Rolls with Original Icing (8 Count)
2 eggs
2/3 cup milk
4 tablespoons maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • Bake cinnamon rolls as directed on package. Let rolls cool completely.
  • Spray griddle or 10-inch skillet with cooking spray; heat griddle to 375°F or heat skillet over medium heat. Slice each roll in half crosswise.
  • In shallow dish, whisk eggs, milk, 2 tablespoons of the maple syrup and the vanilla until blended. Dip each cinnamon roll slice into egg mixture, turning to coat completely. Place on griddle. Cook about 2 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  • In small bowl, whisk reserved icing, the remaining 2 tablespoons maple syrup and enough warm water to create a pourable syrup consistency. Serve over French toast.

Refrigerated cinnamon rolls are baked in a egg, milk and cinnamon mixture to make this simple, shortcut french toast bake.

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 - 12-ounce tubes refrigerated cinnamon rolls, cut into quarters
1/4 - cup melted butter
3 - eggs
1/2 - cup heavy cream
3 - tablespoons maple syrup
2 - teaspoons vanilla
1 - teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 - cup chopped pecans (optional)
reserved icing

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Lightly spray a 13 x 9 inch baking pan with non stick cooking spray.
  • Cut each cinnamon roll into quarters and add to a large mixing bowl. Add the melted butter and toss to combine.
  • Pour the mixture into the baking pan.
  • In a separate bowl combine the eggs, heavy cream or half & half, maple syrup, vanilla, and cinnamon.
  • Whisk until the ingredients are well combined and pour over the cinnamon roll pieces. Add pecans if using.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until the cinnamon rolls are cooked through, golden brown and the egg mixture is absorbed.
  • Remove from oven and cool for 10 minutes, Warm the icing from the cinnamon rolls in the microwave and drizzle over the french toast bake. Drizzle with additional maple syrup if desired.
  • Serve immediately.

In a medium sized bowl, mix together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, and vanilla. Pour evenly over the bread. Cover tightly and store in the fridge for several hours or overnight. In a separate bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add nutmeg if desired. Add butter pieces and cut them into the dry mixture until mixture resembles fine pebbles. Store in a Ziploc in the fridge. When you're ready to bake the casserole, preheat oven to 350° F. Remove casserole from the fridge and sprinkle crumb mixture over the top. (If you're using fruit, sprinkle on before the crumb mixture.) Bake for 45 minutes for a softer, more bread pudding texture. Bake 1 hour or more for a firmer, less liquid texture. Scoop out individual portions. Top with butter and drizzle with maple syrup.
