1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, white vanilla baking chips or mint-flavored chocolate chips (6 oz)
18 to 24 gold- or silver-colored plastic spoons
Candy decorations, crushed hard peppermint candies, miniature candy-coated chocolate chips or decorator sugar crystals, if desired

Steps:

  • Line cookie sheet with waxed paper. In heavy 1-quart saucepan, melt chocolate chips over lowest possible heat, stirring constantly.
  • Tip saucepan so chocolate runs to one side. Dip bowl portion of each spoon into chocolate. Sprinkle with candy decorations. Place on waxed paper. Let stand about 10 minutes or until chocolate is dry.
  • Wrap spoons in plastic wrap or cellophane.

Place each spoon in a flat cellophane bag (we also used a cardboard insert for stability) and tie with kitchen twine or ribbon. To serve, stir chocolate spoon into 8 ounces hot milk.

12 ounces chocolate melts
Toppings such as crushed peppermint, mini M&M's, peanut butter chips, toffee bits, Red Hots and sea salt
24 plastic spoons

Steps:

  • Place chocolate melts in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 1 minute. Stir and microwave for 30-second intervals until melted and smooth. Spoon chocolate into ice cube trays using about 1 Tbsp. in each of 24 squares. Decorate with toppings and insert spoon into each square. Refrigerate until completely set, about 30 minutes, and gently remove from the cube tray.
  • GIVE THEM
  • Add a washi-tape flag to handles. Place each spoon in a flat cellophane bag (we also used a cardboard insert for stability) and tie with kitchen twine or ribbon. Include directions on the tag: "Stir chocolate spoon into 8 oz. hot milk."
