BOILED MUSSELS - HOW TO COOK MEAT

Boiled Mussels - How to Cook Meat image

The mussel is a bivalve mollusk that lives in both salt and freshwater. There are two species you will expect to find at the grocery store when you go looking for mussels. The first is the North Atlantic blue mussel, and this is the most common mussel. Generally, the blue mussel is in season from May to July. The second common mussel is the Mediterranean mussel, also known as the Bay mussel. It looks very similar to the other blue mussel, but the Mediterranean's shell may be broader. The Mediterranean mussel is generally in season from February to May. I am fairly certain that what I am cooking here are Mediterranean mussels because it's March, they are alive, and they are wider than what I am used to. But that is totally irrelevant because I will cook them just like I always cook mussels, and that is Moules Marinières, which is boiling them in beer, cider, or wine with tasty stuff. Then I will eat them with yummy French bread to soak up the broth. Oh, baby. This is gonna be good.
