I can’t remember the first time I tasted my grandmother’s homemade hot chocolate mix, but I know I will never, ever forget the warm comfort it brings me with every sip. For my family, that’s what the holiday season smells like. Made with just four ingredients and a whole lot of love, her signature blend comes straight from her own recipe card, in her own handwriting. The recipe itself is simple and requires very little instruction, but it turns out a big batch that will last you for months. Just make sure to store it with a secure lid! (My grandmother jokes that we’d always run out, no matter how much it makes.) Ingredients

8 packets of instant dry milk (each packet makes one quart when mixed, and boxes typically come with 10 packets total)
16 ounces (or 1 pound) of Nestle Nesquick Chocolate Powder
2/3 cup powdered sugar
6 ounces Coffeemate Original Powdered Creamer

Steps:

Sift all ingredients together into a large tupperware container until no lumps remain and mixture is fully cohesive.
To serve, mix equal parts hot water and hot chocolate mix. You can do this in a mug, large insulated pitcher, or on the stovetop according to your preference.

1 package (25.6 ounces) nonfat dry milk powder
1 package (15 ounces) hot cocoa mix
4 cups confectioners' sugar
1 jar (6 ounces) powdered nondairy creamer

Steps:

In a large bowl, combine the first four ingredients; mix well. Store in an airtight container. Yield: 17 cups., To prepare hot chocolate: Place 1/4 cup mix in a mug; stir in 3/4 cup boiling water until blended.
