1 cup whole milk
? cup milk chocolate chips (about 2 ounces by weight)
tiny pinch salt
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
desired toppings such as whipped cream, marshmallows, or chocolate shavings (optional)

Steps:

  • Place the milk, chocolate chips, and salt in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Cook, stirring constantly, until the milk is hot and the chocolate chips have melted. Do not let the milk come to a boil or even a simmer, as this can cause the milk to burn or curdle. Reduce the heat if you need to.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla.
  • Pour into a mug, top with your favorite toppings (if desired), and enjoy!

  • Combine milk, condensed milk, chocolate chips, heavy cream, and vanilla extract in a slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on Low, stirring occasionally, until chocolate chips are melted and mixture is smooth, about 2 hours.
