My grandparents were originally from West Virginia and hillbilly hotdogs are always eaten at family reunions and family events during the summer even though most of the family lives in northern Indiana now. I personally like a sweet chili and a peppery coleslaw.

My family is from Southwest Virginia and West Virginia. An all time favorite was a chilli dog or a chilli bun with mustard and onions. Most of the country makes it runny and with beans. We do not. Try it, you will like it.

Steps:
- Place the hamburger in a dutch oven, cover it with water. Break the meat up and bring it to a boil. Add the seasoning. Continue to break up the meat.Simmer until most of the water is absorbed. This will take a while
- You can add as much chilli powder as you like.
- You can serve this over a hotdog in a bun or alone. Most people eat it with mustard and onions.
- Freeze this in small bags and keep on hand for quick lunches or dinners.
