HIBACHI CHICKEN AND FRIED RICE RECIPE - FOOD.COM

Hibachi Chicken and Fried Rice Recipe - Food.com image

This is a recipe for a full hibachi style meal. It includes the chicken, veggies, fried rice, and bean sprouts. My husband and I put together a combination of recipes that we found on the interenet and created this one. It is very good for a night in, when you do not wish to pay the expensive prices at the Japanese steak house.

Total Time 35 minutes

Prep Time 15 minutes

Cook Time 20 minutes

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 30

for the hibachi chicken
1 -1 1/2 lb chicken breast
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon sesame seed oil
1 tablespoon butter
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
1 dash salt
1 dash pepper
for the hibachi vegetables
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon sesame seed oil
1 large white onion
1 large zucchini
1 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 dash salt
1 dash pepper
for the hibachi fried rice
4 cups cooked rice (cool to the touch)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup white onion
1 cup bean sprouts
2 large eggs
4 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons soy sauce
for the hibachi bean sprouts
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon soy sauce
3 cups bean sprouts

Steps:

  • Note: Cook the rice first, so that it has time to cool down before you fry it. Cook the chicken and veggies at the same time in two separate skillets or woks. Make sure to keep the chicken and veggies warm while you cook the fried rice and bean sprouts.
  • Hibachi Chicken.
  • Cut the chicken breast up into bit sized pieces. Heat the vegetable oil and sesame oil in a large skillet or wok on medium high heat. Add the chicken, soy sauce, butter, lemon juice, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Sauté the chicken for 6-8 minutes or until no longer pink.
  • Note: Do not clean skillet. You will reuse this skillet for the fried rice.
  • Hibachi Veggies.
  • Cut the white onion into slivers. Quarter the zucchini. Heat the vegetable oil and sesame oil in a large skillet or wok on medium high heat. Add the white onion, zucchini, butter, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Sauté veggies for 6-8 minutes or until veggies are tender.
  • Note: Do not clean skillet, you will use the same skillet for the bean sprouts. The oil that is left over will be used for the bean sprouts.
  • Hibachi Fried Rice.
  • Chop the onion. Heat vegetable oil on medium high in large skillet or wok (use the skillet or wok you cooked the chicken in earlier). Add the onion and sauté. Sauté onion for 3-4 minutes or until almost tender enough to eat. Add the bean sprouts. Sauté for 1-2 minutes. Move the vegetables to the side of the pan. Add the eggs, lightly scramble as you add them to the skillet. Once scrambled add the rice and butter. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Add the soy sauce and cook an additional minute.
  • Hibachi Bean Sprouts.
  • Melt the butter in a large skillet or wok (use the skillet or wok that you cooked the veggies in earlier). Add the soy sauce and bean sprouts. Sauté for 1-2 minutes.

HIBACHI STEAK RECIPE | SANDRA LEE | FOOD NETWORK

Hibachi Steak Recipe | Sandra Lee | Food Network image

Provided by Sandra Lee

Categories     main-dish

Total Time 30 minutes

Prep Time 20 minutes

Cook Time 10 minutes

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 tablespoons canola oil
1 large carrot, thinly sliced
1 zucchini, thinly sliced
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
1 (8-ounce) package sliced mushrooms
1 1/2 pounds top round steak
1 pound egg roll wrappers
1/2 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
2 teaspoons chopped garlic
1 teaspoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons butter

Steps:

  • Put a large skillet over medium-high heat and add half of the oil. When the oil is hot, add the vegetables and stir-fry until the vegetables are almost done, about 5 minutes. While the vegetables are cooking, heat a second skillet over high heat and add the remaining oil.
  • Cut the steak into small cubes, and stir-fry until browned on all sides, about 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over medium heat. Separate the egg roll wrappers into 2 piles. Roll each pile up into a log. Slice the log into thin strips about 1/4-inch thick and separate them into individual noodles. Put half of the noodles into the boiling water and cook for 3 minutes. Drain and add to a serving bowl or platter. (Reserve the remaining noodles for the Online Round 2 Recipe, Japanese Noodle Bowl.)
  • In a small bowl combine the soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and cornstarch and set aside.
  • Add the steak, along with any accumulated juices, to the pan with the vegetables. Stir the cornstarch mixture into the vegetables and cook until the sauce has thickened, about 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in the butter. (Reserve 2 cups for the Online Round 2 Recipe, Japanese Noodle Bowl).
  • Top the cooked noodles with the steak and vegetable mixture and serve.

TOP SECRET RECIPES | KFC ORIGINAL RECIPE FRIED CHICKEN
One of the most protected, discussed, and sought-after secret recipes in the food world is KFC's Original Recipe Fried Chicken. Long ago I published my first hack of the famous formula, but the recipe, which was based on research from "Big Secrets" author William Poundstone, includes only salt, pepper, MSG, and flour in the breading, and not the blend of eleven herbs and spices we have all heard about. The fried chicken made with my first recipe is good in a pinch, but it really needs several more ingredients to be a true clone. That is why, over twenty years later, I was happy to get another crack at the secret when we shot the pilot episode for my CMT TV series Top Secret Recipe. In the show, I visited KFC headquarters, talked to friends of Harlan Sanders who had seen the actual recipe, and even checked out the Corbin, Kentucky, kitchen where Harland Sanders first developed his chicken recipe. During that four-day shoot I was able to gather enough clues about the secret eleven herbs and spices to craft this new recipe—one that I believe is the closest match to the Colonel's secret fried chicken that anyone has ever revealed. DUNKIN' DONUTS COPYCAT RECIPE | TOP SECRET RECIPES
As he worked long, hard days at a shipyard in Hingham, Massachusetts, during World War II, William Rosenberg was struck with an idea for a new kind of food service. As soon as the war ended, Rosenberg started Industrial Luncheon Services, a company that delivered fresh meals and snacks to factory workers. When Rosenberg realized that most of his business was in coffee and donuts, he quit offering his original service. He found an old awning store and converted it into a coffee-and-donut shop called The Open Kettle. This name was soon changed to the more familiar Dunkin' Donuts, and between 1950 and 1955 five more shops opened and thrived. The company later spread beyond the Boston area and has become the largest coffee-and-donut chain in the world. Today, Dunkin' Donuts offers fifty-two varieties of donuts in each shop, but the most popular have always been the plain glazed and chocolate-glazed yeast donuts.
