HOW TO MAKE A HALLOWEEN GHOST PIZZA - EASY RECIPE FOR KIDS

How to Make a Halloween Ghost Pizza - Easy Recipe for Kids image

One of the most fun parts of Halloween is decorating your home to look spook and cool. This can mean we make our door look like the entry to a haunted house, our stairs are covered in cobwebs and bats fall from the windows. However, we don't need to stop there when it comes to creating spooky decorations. We can even make our food look haunted! If you are looking for some spooky Halloween recipes for kids and grownups to make together, oneHOWTO is at hand as we show you how to make a Halloween ghost pizza.

Provided by Mary Smith

Total Time 30 minutes

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 homemade or store-bought pizza base
6 slices mozzarella cheese
200 ml tomato sauce
Pitted black olives
Chopped roast chicken
Ground black pepper
Fresh rosemary leaves
Dried oregano
Olive oil
Salt

Steps:

  • If you want to make your own pizza base, this recipe will take a little longer. However, you can see how easy it is to do with our recipe on how to make unleavened pizza dough. Alternatively, you can use a store-bought pizza base and your recipe will be done in 20 minutes. Once you know what pizza base you are going to use, the first thing we need to do is preheat the oven to 180 °C/350 °F.
  • Place your pizza base on a sheet of baking paper. You can use aluminum foil, but this may stick to the base, especially if using homemade dough. Season your tomato sauce to taste and spread it over the pizza base. You can also use a store-bought pizza sauce, but to keep it healthy and ensure quality, we recommend making your own Neapolitan pizza sauce. Ensure you leave space around the edges. The pizza base usually needs to be cooked a little before you add your toppings. Bake according to pizza base instructions (usually about 5 min.).
  • Once the pizza base is ready to top, we can start decorating our haunted Halloween pizza. To do this we are using mozzarella as ghosts. We need to use hard mozzarella as fresh mozzarella is harder to shape. Ideally, we should use sliced low-moisture mozzarella which we can cut into the classic ghost shape. Once we have the ghost shape, use either olives or cut rosemary leaves to make the eyes. You can buy ghost shape cutters to make this easier still. We can also add some creepy spiders to our ghostly haunted Halloween pizza. These are really easy, but effective. Simply slice a pitted black olive in half lengthways. Use one half as the spider's body, then cut the other half in half lengthways again. Slice these olive quarters into 3 strips to use as spider legs and arrange around the other olive half.
  • Finally, all you have to do is add more toppings if you want to round out the meal. Slices of chicken can be placed under the mozzarella ghosts so that you don't ruin the decoration. However, you can also add slices of pepper around the ghosts and spiders if you want to keep it vegetarian. Essentially, you can use whatever you like as long as you don't place the other toppings over the ghosts and spiders.
  • Salt and pepper again, add the dried oregano on top and return to the oven. This time bake at 220 °C/425 °F for approximately 10 to 15 minutes or until you see the cheese is melted and the edges start to brown.
  • Once your pizza is browned to your liking, it is ready. The only negative for this haunted Halloween pizza is that we lose the design once we slice it and eat it. For this reason, you may want to make small individual pizzas for everyone so they can enjoy the ghosts for as long as possible before tucking into the delicious Halloween meal.If you enjoyed this Halloween kids party idea, why not find out some more ways you can make your Halloween party special:How to make Halloween ghost cookiesHow to make Halloween decorations out of paperDIY Halloween decoration ideas
