I came up with this recipe when I couldn't decide whether I wanted chocolate chip or double chip cookies so I came up with a way to have both! These cookies are half plain chocolate chip and half chocolate chocolate chip.

1?½ cups all-purpose flour
¼ teaspoon baking soda
1 pinch salt
½ cup butter, softened
¼ cup white sugar
½ cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup milk chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).
  • In a medium bowl, cream together 1/2 cup butter with 1/4 cup white sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Beat in 1 egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Combine 1 1/2 cups flour with 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda and a pinch of salt, stir into the creamed mixture until well blended. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • In another medium bowl, cream together 1/2 cup butter with 1/2 cup white sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Beat in 1 egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Combine 1 1/2 cups flour with 1/4 cup cocoa, 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda and a pinch of salt, stir into the creamed mixture until well blended. Fold in the chocolate chips. Scoop a small amount of each dough onto a large spoon, drop cookies 2 inches apart onto an unprepared cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

Half & Half and Butter Substitute for Heavy Cream | Just A ... image

Half and half has a good fat content ranging between 10.5% to 18% fat. It is commonly found in most fridges and is a great substitute for heavy cream, like whole milk is, with a little butter added to it. When it’s done your cream substitute can be used in sauces, dressings, baked goods, and makes a wonderful ganache.

3/4 cup(s) + 2 Tbsp half and half
2 tablespoon(s) unsalted butter

Steps:

  • Cut butter into pats and place in a microwavable bowl.
  • Melt butter in the microwave in 15-second intervals.
  • Stir butter in between intervals until it’s just melted.
  • Put half and half in a microwavable bowl.
  • Microwave the half and half for 15-second intervals to warm it (2-3 times max). It needs to be a little warm, about room temperature. If the half and half is too warm, stir and let it sit for a couple of minutes.
  • Pour the melted butter and the half and half into the blender, in that order.
  • It is ready to be used. Do not refrigerate or it will separate.
