This easy Alfredo-inspired cheese dip gets your outdoor party started in a fun and tasty way.

Yield 1 2/3 cups cheese dip

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 (16- to 24-ounce) unsliced sourdough bread loaf
12 (3/4-ounce) slices Land O Lakes® Deli American
1 clove fresh garlic, peeled
1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup milk
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Carrot sticks, celery sticks and/or red bell pepper strips, if desired

Steps:

  • Heat gas grill to medium-low or charcoal grill until coals are ash white. Place coals to one side in charcoal grill.
  • Cut 1/2-inch slice off top of bread; set aside. Remove bread from center of loaf leaving sides and bottom of bread about 1/2 inch thick, using small knife. Set aside bread bowl and extra bread.
  • Place American cheese and garlic into food processor bowl fitted with metal blade; pulse until cheese is coarsely chopped. Add Parmesan cheese, milk, cream cheese and nutmeg. Pulse until well mixed. Spoon mixture into bread bowl.
  • Wrap bread bowl loosely in aluminum foil. Place opposite heat on grill. Close lid; grill 20-25 minutes or until cheese mixture is heated through.
  • Cut remaining bread into 1-inch pieces.
  • Stir cheese mixture before serving. Serve immediately with bread pieces and vegetables, if desired.

1 bread bowl
cheese, as needed
butter
tomato soup

Steps:

  • Remove the top of the roll. Using a small knife cut around the inside of the bread (being careful not to cut through the sides) and scoop out the center of the roll - save this for later.
  • Butter the inside of the roll and place 3-4 cheese slices around the inner edge of the bread bowl. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 10 minutes, or until the cheese has melted.
  • Cut the saved center of the roll in half. Butter both sides and create a cheese sandwich.
  • Melt butter in a small skillet over medium heat and fry the sandwich until both sides are browned and the inner cheese has melted.
  • Remove the bread bowl from the oven. Fill with tomato soup and serve with the grilled cheese.
  • Enjoy!

Add the bay leaf; season with salt and pepper. Bring the soup to a simmer and cook until good flavor develops, 20 to 25 minutes. 3. Make the Bread Bowls: Preheat the oven to 400?F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. 4. Slice the tops off the loaves of bread. Use a small knife to cut around the inside of each loaf in a neat circle; remove the circle in one piece and reserve. 5. Cook the sandwiches to the pan. Cook, flipping once, until both sides are golden brown, about 4 minutes per side. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet with the bread bowls. 8. Transfer the baking sheet to the oven to keep the grilled cheese sandwiches warm and melt the cheese inside the bread bowls, about 4 minutes. 9. To serve, ladle the soup into the bread bowls and serve with the grilled cheese on the side. Garnish with parsley.
