3 tablespoons honey
½ orange, zested
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1?½ teaspoons balsamic vinegar
1 dash ground black pepper
1 tablespoon water
2 cups fresh green beans, trimmed
1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil
1 tomato, diced

Steps:

  • Stir the honey, orange zest, garlic, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, pepper, and water together in a bowl. Add the green beans and toss to coat. Allow to soak for 20 minutes, mixing every 5 minutes.
  • Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over low heat; add the green beans to the hot oil and cover the saucepan. Pour the green beans and sauce into the pan and cook, shaking the pan regularly, until the beans are slightly tender, about 5 minutes. Add the tomatoes to the green beans, replace the cover, and continue cooking until the green beans are cooked though yet slightly crispy, about 5 minutes more.

Kosher salt and pepper

olive oil

1 tbsp.

fresh thyme leaves, roughly chopped

clove garlic, finely chopped

1 1/2 tsp.

orange zest

3 tbsp.

fresh orange juice

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add green beans and 1 tsp salt. Cook until tender, 6 to 7 minutes. Drain. Heat oil in a large skillet on medium. Add beans, thyme, garlic, half of the orange zest, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp pepper. Cook, stirring frequently, until garlic is just lightly golden, 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in juice; cook until mostly evaporated, 30 seconds to 1 minute more. Garnish with remaining zest.
