Apricot Glazed Ham Recipe | Allrecipes image

Apricot preserves and a hint of honey mustard make a wonderful glaze for your traditional Easter Ham (or any other special occasion).

Provided by Karen Karsten

Categories     Main Dishes    Pork    Ham    Whole

Total Time 2 hours 5 minutes

Prep Time 10 minutes

Cook Time 1 hours 55 minutes

Yield 1 - 8 pound ham

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 (8 pound) fully-cooked, bone-in ham
¼ cup whole cloves
½ cup apricot preserves
3 tablespoons honey mustard

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Score the fatty side of the ham with a sharp knife in a diamond pattern, spacing the lines about 1 inch apart. Insert whole cloves at the intersections, if desired. Place the ham in a shallow roasting pan and cover with aluminum foil.
  • Bake the ham in the preheated oven for about 90 minutes. About 10 minutes before the ham is finished, measure the apricot preserves into a small saucepan. Warm over medium heat until liquid, then remove from the heat and stir in the honey mustard.
  • Brush the glaze onto the ham, and return to the oven, uncovered, and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes, or until the glaze is nicely browned. Let the ham stand for about 10 minutes before carving and serving.

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. With knife, remove skin and trim all but 1/8 inch fat from ham. Secure apricots with cloves to fat side of ham in rows, leaving some space between apricots. Place ham, fat side up, on rack in large roasting pan (17" by 11 1/2"); add 1 cup water. Cover pan tightly with foil. Bake 2 hours. After ham has baked 1 hour and 45 minutes, prepare glaze: In 1-quart saucepan, heat marmalade and mustard to boiling on medium-high. Remove foil from ham and carefully brush with some glaze. Continue to bake ham 30 to 40 minutes longer or until meat thermometer reaches 135 degrees F, brushing with glaze every 15 minutes. Internal temperature of ham will rise 5 to 10 degrees F upon standing. (Some apricots may fall off into pan as you glaze.) Transfer ham to cutting board; cover and let stand 20 minutes for easier slicing. Slice ham and serve with apricots from pan.
