This fabulous, quick and easy teriyaki marinade is great for all meat types and kabobs. It works especially well with pork chops. The longer the meat marinates, the better it will taste!

⅓ cup water
⅓ cup brown sugar
⅓ cup soy sauce
1 teaspoon crushed garlic
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, mix water, brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic, and cinnamon. Place desired meat in the mixture. Cover, and marinate in the refrigerator at least 2 hours before grilling as desired.

1 cup soy sauce
1 cup water
¾ cup white sugar
¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
3 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
⅓ cup dried onion flakes
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, mix the soy sauce, water, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, oil, onions, garlic powder, and ginger. Stir together until sugar dissolves. Voila - marinade!

  • Place steak in a shallow dish. In a small bowl, whisk 1/2 cup soy sauce, vinegar, honey, ginger and garlic. Pour half of the marinade over steak; turn to coat. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Cover and refrigerate remaining marinade. , Drain and discard marinade. Grill steak, covered, over medium heat or broil 3-4 in. from the heat for 7-9 minutes on each side or until meat reaches desired doneness (for medium-rare, a thermometer should read 135°; medium, 140°; medium-well, 145°). Let stand for 10 minutes before slicing., Meanwhile, transfer reserved marinade to a small saucepan. Bring to a boil; cook until liquid is reduced by half. Set aside., In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon butter over medium-high heat. Pour eggs into skillet. As eggs set, lift edges, letting uncooked portion flow underneath. When eggs are completely cooked, remove to plate. Chop eggs into small pieces; set aside., In the same skillet, stir-fry rice in remaining butter over medium-high heat. Teriyaki is derived from the Japanese root words teri, to shine, and yaki, to broil or grill. That’s the way traditional teriyaki looks: shiny and incised with grill marks. In Japan, teriyaki is a mix of soy sauce, sake and the rice wine mirin, which imparts a subtle sweetness. The teriyaki found throughout Seattle, of which this is an adaptation, is a bit more showy.
